Introduction of normal family meals
As of about the 10th month, your baby can slowly adjust to eating normal family meals. Most children have their first teeth at this age and are able to chew on more solid food apart from the milk and cereals. However, make sure that this food is easily digestible and not too spicy or not flavoured at all. Put a portion of the food aside for your baby before adding sugar, salt or other spices to the family meals. As your child acquires motoric skills, you will no longer have to feed it. On the contrary, children love to be independent and enjoy proving their independence at every opportunity. You should also adjust the milk now to the needs of your child in order to cover the steadily growing demand of the body for energy and nutrients.
Breastfeeding is the best feeding option for babies, it provides the best nutrition and protection.
According to the WHO's recommendations, babies should be breastfed exclusively in the first 6 months and continue to have breast milk, alongside solid foods, until they reach 2 years old or older. Breast milk contains antibodies that enhance babies' immune systems and offers comprehensive nutrients that promote healthy growth. For advice on breast-feeding, please consult your doctor or health professional.
